time to choose the next book!

Edit to post: just to make sure it's clear, we're not done discussing the current book. We're still only discussing through the first two sections. I've been getting a few emails about what the next book is going to be, so I thought we could go ahead and start choosing it even though the discussion for it won't be for several weeks. Hope that makes sense, and sorry for any confusion!

I've been getting great feedback about our first book, Dreams from My Father. It seems that the general consensus is that people are glad that we chose it, but also that the material is a little heavy.

So, for our next book, let's choose something a little lighter. On the right sidebar of the page is the link list of books suggested so far. If anyone wants to recommend a book and hasn't done so yet, go ahead and add your book.

How would everyone like to choose the next book? We could choose by a vote or choose via a randomizer. If we choose by popular vote, we can have a say in what book we're more in the mood to read at this point (we'll read each book on the list - it's only a matter or when). If we choose a book at random, there isn't as much input, but that could be fun. Post your preference in the comment section, and we can go from there. I would like to have a book chosen by the end of next week, so on Tuesday night, we'll choose the book by the method the majority voted for.

My preference is to choose by popular vote. :)

It's already time for a new book?? I'm just finishing up the 2nd section of our first book. Did everyone already talk about the 3rd section? Hmm, I may not be able to do this. I just don't have the time to go this fast.

No, no, we're not done with the current book - I'll edit the post to explain that. I'm sorry about the misunderstanding. You're actually ahead of me in the reading. I have had a hard time with it, not only because the reading isn't very easy for me, but just from being busy.

I've gotten some emails from people about choosing the next book, so I thought we could go ahead and do that. The discussion for it won't start for a few weeks, not until the current book is complete. But, with the next book chosen, it gives everyone a chance to get the book (for example, if they wanted to order it online since those prices are usually the best or if they needed to get it from the library that gives them time in case they have a wait a little for the book to come in - place a hold, etc). It also gives the person whose book is up next to prepare the discussion post and reading schedule.

Out of the books already on the list, the two I know to be lighthearted more or less are Wee Free Men and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I dunno what the rest are about, but I need something lighter, that's all it comes down to.

So...you don't want to randomly choose a book - is that your vote? Right now, I just want to know how people want to decide the next book. We'll make a separate post to actually decide the book. I need to read the book descriptions to each of the books already suggested - they are each linked in case others want to do the same. If it does come down to popular vote on what to read next, I would recommend that we each read the description of each book before we make a decision since we're probably not all familiar with all the books suggested.

I think a vote would be fine. I'm okay with either method, I'm just being decisive and choosing one.

I've read the descriptions for all of them and they all sounds great. But like Istari said, a lighter book would be great and I'd be fine with either of her suggestions. Well, maybe I'll lean more towards Wee Free Men for now. I guess that's my premature vote.

It sounds like most people want to choose the next book. I'll make a post for that now.
